Freelance Copywriter: WEBSITE IN ONE DAY
Website Rebuild | Platform: Squarespace | Timeline: 1 Day
Ten years of freelance copywriting. An impressive client list spanning Virgin, Tesco, Sony, Coca-Cola, Disney, Barclays and beyond. A career built almost entirely on word-of-mouth recommendations. And a website that wasn't doing any of it justice. My client knew it was time to stop relying solely on referrals and start having a website that could do some of the selling for her, one that actually sounded like her, looked like her work, and made new leads feel confident before they'd even picked up the phone.
In one day, we gave her exactly that.
What We Did
Upgraded the existing Squarespace website to the latest version and rebuilt the site on the same domain, keeping the existing subscription in place and a saved backup of the old site for peace of mind.
Designed a bold, personality-led homepage that works as a single-scroll hero page, weaving together a sharp about summary, an impressive brand logo wall, service areas, testimonial pull-quotes, and a clear call to action into one cohesive, confident statement.
Built a filterable Work portfolio so that each service area links directly to relevant case studies, and visitors who want the full picture can find everything in one place.
Kept individual case study pages concise and scannable, a brief project overview paired with a client testimonial, letting the quality of the work speak without burying it in prose.
Moved away from black-and-white into something far bolder: orange and purple accents and subtle motion throughout give the site an energy that reflects the personality and creativity behind the work.
Used oversized statement typography in place of photography, keeping the design fresh, modern and distinctly copy-led without relying on images to do the heavy lifting.
Included three check-ins throughout the day so my client could see progress, give feedback, and approve as we went, with two weeks of tweaks and revisions included after launch.
The result is a website that finally matches the calibre of the work behind it. Bold, warm, direct and full of personality, it communicates who my client is and what she brings to a brief before a visitor has read a single word of her portfolio. For a copywriter whose entire career is built on the power of the right words in the right order, that first impression matters enormously.
Ten years in, she now has a website that works as hard as she does.
"This looks FABULOUS! And I'm so pleased to have it done (and by a professional too) so, THANK YOU!"
One day. One designer. A website that finally sounds as good as the work it showcases.
