The answer is yes! It is 100% possible to build a website in one day. The key to getting it done is getting prepped in advance, and choosing the right web designer.

Many web designers offer website projects lasting anywhere between one and twelve weeks. That can often feel like an overwhelming amount of time to be involved in a project, and also unnecessary when you might just be in need of a small but stylish website.

Content:

Preparing content is often a bit of a ‘chicken and egg’ situation. You need content to build a website, but you also need to know the page layout to determine where the content should go. That's where my Website Content Workbook comes in handy. It provides a structured approach with prompts for each core website page like Home, About, Services, and Contact.

Inspiration:

Pinterest is a great place to start when it comes to inspiration for your website. Begin by searching for the specific style you desire, like 'minimal website' or 'text-based websites'. Save your favourite pins to a board and share it with your designer. It's also beneficial to check out your competitor's websites to see what you like and dislike, but remember to make your website unique and stand out from theirs. Once you have gathered all the necessary content and inspiration, you're all set to design and build your website in just one day.

What’s the timeline of the day:

09:00 - We start with a short kick-off call to check in, discuss the plan of action and talk through any questions that may have come up in the Website Content Workbook. I then get started with your home page.

12:30 / 13:00 - Around lunchtime, we have our first check-in call to review your home page. Tweaks and changes will be made on our call. The home page is the first page to get started with as it will be the most popular website visited on your website. It also acts as the gateway to your interior pages, so once the design is confirmed and signed off for this page, all other pages will follow the same style. At the end of this call, I will get started with building out the interior pages of your website.

15:30 / 16:00 - Late afternoon we will have our final review call where we will have a full walk-through of your website. Any required revisions or updates will be made and content can be tweaked as needed. I will then check mobile styling for all pages, check all buttons and links and connect your domain (if required).

17:00 - Congratulations on your new website!! At this point, your website should be complete however, if you’d like to take some time to review the pages again we can keep a password protect page up until you’re ready to launch!

Things to remember:

Websites are a continuous work in progress. They are not static and will require updates as your business evolves and expands. As a new business, your services are likely to change, which means your website content will need to be updated accordingly. This is perfectly normal and should not be a cause for concern. In my opinion, it's better to have something up and running than to wait for perfection. Having an online presence is crucial for directing clients to your business and generating organic leads through search engines and social media.

After your website is launched, I offer lifetime access to my website portal, which includes video tutorials on how to update and edit your website on your own. It's important to receive training, so when searching for a web designer, be sure to enquire if this is included.
